My wife and daughter stunned me with this gift on Christmas morning! I never saw it coming. ☺
I've been aware of Macdonald's book for a long time; but only in the last year or two have my own skills progressed to the point where I could get some practical benefit from it. When my wife asked for Christmas-gift ideas, I mentioned this book along with other items. Given its cost, tho, I never expected to get it.
Thank you to my two wonderful ladies! <blowing a grateful kiss to each>
I don't have a nursery (yet anyway,) but there's useful information here for serious enthusiasts like me. |

Sweet. It's a little bigger than would fit under a tree, but I have been looking for one of those hydraulic spade diggers that would fit on a hand truck or garden wagon. Seems like it would make urban collecting easier.
ReplyDeleteInteresting idea, Zack. I've never seen one that small. Maybe you could adapt/build one yourself, if you're handy with tools.
DeleteFriends of ours in Ireland adapted a full-sized excavator for peat harvesting, in their own machine shop: re-set the cab, replaced the track "shoes" with wider ones, and built their own peat-cutting "bucket." Perhaps you could do something along the same lines, but on a smaller scale, if you have the inclination and the aptitude.
